Making this thing pretty much useless except for things like resorts where one device could be close to the net.Pair goTenna to your smartphone via Bluetooth, and use the app to connect with other goTennas up to several miles away.
The cheapest those radios go for $350 forget about it. Plus this uses VHF which actually works a lot better than UHF which Family Radio uses.Someone took the Garmin Rino and made it mo' better. Looks cool.

Interesting idea! Should be really helpful if you are part of a group, hiking, sailing togetheron different boats and so on! Would be even better if you could connect to internet via satellite - why doesn't it have that functionality?
Sat Phones are entirely different than this dongle antenna and quite a bit more expensive - two very different technologies at work.
Air time is super spendy at about $500 for 200 minutes for Sat Phones.
