As Seen on TV thread

I'd like to see ATOT user reviews on products seen on TV infomercials...and see if they work outside the magic of television.

A few products I'd like to know about:

The Ultimate Chopper
Miracle Blade III
The Turbo Cooker
Ron Popeil Showtime Rotisserie Oven

Please post requests for additional products if you are interested. Thanks!

I've heard the Showtime Oven is pretty good, actually, from various reports. Did you know Ronco also makes a thing that beats eggs inside the shell? 😛

Well, they used to.

As seen on TV = crap.

Your simple, one lined responses that you post in just about every topic created in ATOT never cease to amaze me. On with the neffage!
Show me one decent product that has been attached with the line As seen on TV.

The Ron Popeil bagel cutter. Does what it promises, nothing less, nothing more.

I agree. Have any of you ever seen those infomercials for PCs? They are so God awful its indescribable. Basically they take a crappy PC, put two guys on camera with it and have them go nuts over the fact the printer attached to the computer actually prints in COLOR. Wow!

That's the purpose of this thread.

George Forman grill, Orange Clean, Ronco food dehydrator.

Maybe even oxy-clean too, although that's debatable. Just the fact that major companies released compeating products makes me think there was something to Oxy-clean.

My mom has a turbo chopper. It works decently, stuff tends to get caught in-between the blades (carrots especially). I can chop stuff just as easily with a chef's knife, but it makes more of a mess.

The problem with a lot of the made for TV stuff is that while it works, it's hard to get replacement parts. My mom bought some peeler thing that worked great, except it was useless once the blade went dull and you couldn't get replacements.

The pot that has the lid that has holes in it for easy straining.. I love that pot!

Fair enough. Although I disagree with the Foreman grill, cleaners with orange in them seem to do a decent job.

I will consider myself pwned.

Bump on the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie ....I'm damn tempted to buy one of these ...

You should. It is THE sh!t. We use ours all the time, about 4 days a week. Had it for 1 1/2 years and it still works like new.

I've had the Ron Popeil Showtime Rotisserie Oven for a couple of years now. We use it on average of 3 - 4 time per month. It works great, does exactly what was advertised and we have had no problem with it at all. IMHO it was worth the money especially since I like food cooked on a rotisserie. 🙂

So do you just set it and forget it?

interesting....

Oxyclean was so successful that ALL the major cleaning chemical companies have copied it. There is no debating Oxyclean's success.
