Friday, Feb 9th, my band and I played the Portland Memorial Coliseum (not the Rose Garden, the place next door)

It was GREAT, for our first gig! We had people jumping around at the base of the stage, pictures all over the frickin' place, and people asking for autographs phone numbers. Sh!t man, I didn't think we'd be thispopular. There were 800 seats set up, and we had people standing in the back. :D No official headcount was given to us, but we were told it was somewhere between 8- and 900. :D

I'm in a rather euphoric state right now. Thus not being able to sleep at 2:45am, after getting home. I think I'll go clubbin -oh wait, I live in da sh!t part of town. :(

Congrats drum boy :) 800-900 for your FIRST GIG? Jeeeeeze, that's incredible...who were you supporting?

My band have played 15 gigs, and for about half of them we've got no money at all, and for the rest we've perhaps got enough to pay for the van hire and some beer or something. The most we've played to is probably about 200. We're going to Ireland in 2 weeks though and we should get some cash for that, not to mention something from 7" and T-shirt Sales. Although to be honest, I'd be happy if we could just break even for the tour.

We were the only ones at the concert. We weren't supporting anyone but ourselves. If it wasn't for our advertising to youth groups, TONS of friends at Portland Community College, and word of mouth, we had a complete full house. There was a hockey game (the Portland Winterhawks LOST. :() tonight with a massive party afterwards. Too bad the home team lost.

The only CD that "we" have was by "Crossroads" which consisted of two of the current members and three others who have since dropped out. The drummer on the CD SUCKED ASS. They recorded in a crap room with basically a few microphones and a tape recorder. With some simple tweaking on Doran's computer (Doran is now part of the nameless band - us), it didn't sound like a tape recorded onto a CD. But it still sucks. Woah... I'm really bashing my band, aren't I!? :)

Needless to say that I'm glad we've redone a few of the songs on the CD and now have a spankin' new system to record on (still in the accoustically CRAP room). I know someone with a professional studio in his garage, but I'm not in with him enough to use it on our own yet. Oh well.

We started playing songs like a slightly modified version of the "SpyHunter" theme song, raising quite a few eyebrows in the process. We played some Dave Matthews, two Beatles songs, hinted at a Metallica style through a series of original songs, our complete own style in a few other originals, and a couple "church" songs modified for GOOD taste. ;)

Here's to good luck, good times, and KILLER music: *cheers*

Sorry to hear that. You can boost some real quick if you throw some very well known and very well liked songs around in between things now and then.

Most of the concert was our own material, but we have A LOT of fun doing covers that we know well. It's a GREAT feeling when the crowd quiets down to listen when you start playing DMB's Crash. That's probably the cover we do best.

We opened with the Beatles' Help, but it would have been great to open with an instrumental of ZZ Top's La Grange, which we've also done in practices for warming up.

See, this is our first gig. We've put all of 12 hours of practice into this show. It's not hard for us to pull stuff out of the hat. We've played together for probably six years before deciding to come together. The four of us fit together so well not only as musicians but as friends.

God my fingers REALLY HURT this morning. They're stiff. Of course, I didn't take my athletic tape so now I have a blister. *heh heh*

Anyway, no we don't play with Metallica. That would be a waste of Metallica's time. We ain't dat good - no way.

Misus
If we cut the CD over again or write our own, I'll post it here, just for you Missus. :)
