I am an American, a proud of American, I support gun ownership, and the war on Iraq. I believe in what this country was founded on, I'm proud of the democracy and capitalism we have established here.
I am sick and tired of the circle jerks about how great we are... no... not just how great we are, but how much GREATER we are than everyone else.
Are we better off than 99% of the world? Probably... but that is far from being the best, there are so many other countries in that top 1% that may even be better or at least as good as we are.
Why do we as Americans find it necessary to stick our feet down our throats so often, when attempting to argue that we're the best.
Take that other thread, when someone posts something along the lines of "screw america" and some asshat chimes in... "only in america can you say that about your country."
NO YOU IDIOT... only in any one of the free democratic nations in the world can you say that. Being able to say that is in no way unique to us in the United States.
And furthermore whats with the calling anyone who criticizes America or American policy un patriotic or, worse accusing them of planning the "demise" of the country. Since when does being American mean banning dissent? Last I checked freedom of speech is one of the proudest freedoms we have, and yet time and time again, the same idiots who are screaming our greatness from the rooftops, are the same asshats who are undermining the very principals that make us great in the first place.
For the love of god... no for the love of this great country... stop making us look like such idiots, with your utter arrogant, nonsensical, intolerant, utterly stupid ravings. Proclaim that we're a great country SURE... ABSOLUTELY... declare us better than everyone else, for no other reason than to beat your chest, and be an arrogant monkey ass... NO
