You have a GOOD EYE for framing pictures with your camera.

We didn't get to go to Belize this year because my GF had to fly to Nicaragua early August do to a death in the family. So now we don't really have money to go on another vacation right now nor free days from work.

So we may go in February. I want to convince my GF that we should go back to Aruba instead though but we'lll see. I've just been hearing a lot of mixed things about Belize recently, and I'm pretty turned off by the fact you can't just go into the water from the beach. Most places you have to go into the water out from a dock or something.

But we'll see :)

from what I hear, Belize is very laid back and not developed at all. and its supposed to be great for scuba diving. what do you mean you cant go into the water from the beach? beaches are rocky or something?

but hey, cant go wrong with Aruba again. This time rent a car and visit the remote beaches like Mangel Halto and Baby

Yea the beaches are very rocky so most hotels have piers you walk out on then jump in the water. I was also told that the water is not as clear as it seems from pictures.

These were told to me first hand from someone whow ent there, but from the pictures it looks very blue. Also I'v heard its great for scuba diving as well, so I would figure it's pretty clear.

But I dunno. There is something about Aruba that just makes me want to go back very bad. Did you all rent a car? I forget what you had said about that. Also did you eat at Flying Fishbone?

IIRC, Aruba has the highest return visit % of any Caribbean island. I know my wife and I cannot wait to go back.

yea I hear what you're saying. When I'm in a tropical place, I'd want to be able wade into the water and relax, not have to worry about cutting my foot on some rock. But rocky beaches have their own beauty also. When I went to Bar Harbor, Maine last month, we got to see some spectacular rocky beaches.

And I wouldnt be surprised if the water by Belize isnt as clear as Aruba. From my experience, the water surrounding an island is genereally clearer than the water by a larger land mass.

Yea we rented a car...with Econo Rent a car. $135 to rent a Taurus (sat 6) for 3 days. I think renting a car is a must if you want to get away from the busy beaches. and IMO the remote beaches that the buses dont go to are waaay better than the beaches by the hotels. Next time I go, I'm gonna rent a Jeep or something so I can go on the dirt north shore roads. One thing we didnt do was go horseback riding. Next time

We didnt eat at the Flying Fishbone. Ate at Driftwood instead since we asked a couple locals which seafood place they prefer and they said FF is more romantic but the food is better at Driftwood. Also ate at El Gaucho...the best steak I've ever had!

Flying Fishbone requires a rental car. A taxi ride out there is about 45 bucks, might as well rent a car for the entire day for that money. I had our concierge get us one of those tiny hatchbacks that are all over the island.

Another vote for El Gaucho, quite possibly the best steak I've ever had.

even better was their homemade steak sauce. Unlike anything I've ever had before. It was made out of some kind of oil and had cilantro in it. none of us touched the A1 bottle throughout the entire meal

it was funny when we went to flying fishbone ...

we asked the lady at our desk how we should get there, and she told us that a couple who rented a car had reservations around the same exact time as us. She then contacted and asked them if we could ride with them. And we did.

And thank god, cause as ou said, they said it was like a $35 cab ride there. And it was a far trip from the hotel as well. After there though, my GF and I cabbed downtown to the party area and then had a good time there, then cabbed back to our room.

Next time I go i DEFINNITELY want to rent a car, no questions asked. However when I go out to party, I'll still take a cab so I dont have to worry about driving when I have alcohol in me.

The public bus system is pretty good too. My wife and I used the public transport to and from our hotel to downtown for shopping, eating, etc...

At a few different places. Carlos and Charlies, Karma Cocktail Lounge, Mambo Jambo. We also went to Moomba Beach which wasn't really like a club or lounge, but more like a bar that you just hang out at and drink. That was the night we took it kind of easy but ended up being like 2 of the only 5 or 6 people who were dancing.

Carlos and Charlies is a typical "club" in a foreign place. It attracts mostly tourists and was just like any college town club/bar you would see. Karma Cocktail lounge was a lot nicer and reminded me of a more upscale place I would see in DC. The prices weren't expensive though, it was normal. Mambo Jambo is like 75% latin music, and there are a good amount of locals who go there. It was a lot of fun at this place and my GF and I really enjoyed that place. I just remember I had $5 jack/cokes all night long and the bar tender loved me so she was making them so strong.

We went out all 4 nights we stayed. Would just stay out and find a cab home. Man what a fun trip ...

Yah man, Moomba Beach was by FAR the most laid back place. It was definitely the least favorite of mine of the places we went, even though we had a great time there because we wanted a more low key night that night. It's right up there though near all of the hi-rise hotels so it gets a good crowd. The other 3 places are all w/in walking distance of one another and are located downtown.
