Artificial Intelligence question

sorry about the misleading title, but it's really about the steven speilberg movie "AI"

in the scene where that police helicopter takes away that gigalo-bot, as he is slowly being lifted away, he says "i am..." then "i was...".
those are his last 2 lines in the movie. i'm wondering whether the "i am..." quote is a reference to some other movie or book about robots or AIs. the reason i ask is cause i've seen the quote somewhere else before that also involved a robot saying that right before self destructing (i don't remember exactly where though).

just curious. thanks for any input.

are either of these 2 books any good? i haven't read any of asimov's work

mygumballs, I haven't fully read I, Robot cover to cover, but I plan on making the time to do so as there are plenty of people out there that says its an excellent read :)
