Artifacts with x700pro

I recently got a new system and I installed a x700pro. After I play games for a while, the screen will flash on and off (and say it doesn't have a signal), and the game will look just plain weird. People will turn purple, some peoples heads will be off, big triangular rainbows will fly everywhere, and I am pretty sure this is what you consider an artifact. Here are my specs.

AMD 64 3200+
1 GB ram (512 corsair value select, 512 hyundai electronics, 4 256 pieces, latency 3,3,3,8 on all of them)
Sound blaster audigy 2 zs
Lite on DVD burner
Lite on CD drive
Western Digital 160 gb ata-133 hard drive
MSI motherboard with ATI Radeon Xpress 200 chipset
 
What game? Unless this hits all games, it could be a game bug. Artifacts will also appear in windows itself if your card is busted.
 
Do you have the onboard video disabled in your bios? There could be a conflict because I believe the chipset you have has onboard video. The symtoms you discribe are definately artifacts, but the cause is the mystery. Also, is your video card a refurb or is it brand new? You may have to return that video card or get a refund. One more thing... Is the fan on the video card working? If the fan has gone bad, you WILL get artifacts as if you severely overclocked. Please check into all of this and let us know what you find out.
