Artifacts in new 7800gt

I just got my new nvidia card last night and to my horror
I get artifacts or missing words or wierd characters on my screen as im bootoing up
and when i try to play a game it will start artifacting till it white outs the screen then locks up..
what the hell is the problem with this card?!?!?

Try to reseat the card,make sure you have the 6pin power connector hooked up,if that does not work possible bad card

It's dead, rma it.

Or return it to the retail store you bought it from for a new card.

I had an artifacting EVGA 7800GT and RMA'd it only to receive a DOA 7800GT and RMA'd it for a working card finally. The working card is a consistant 2 FPS slower in DOOM3 compared to the aritfacting card so I think I got a "detuned" card from EVGA.

Try updating the bios of the card. I did that with mine and that fixed my artifact problems.

Is your PSU powerful enough to run the card?

That was the fix EVGA put out for their cards. Worked for some, but not for others.
