Artifacts in 3dmark05

I get artifacts during the second test in 3dmark05.

I have no fast writes or shadowing options in my BIOS for my GIGABYTE 875 motherboard
I have checked my BIOS and it ends in .65 so it is not the .15 BIOS.

My card is BFG 6800 OC.

My videocard is not overclocked however my CPU is. I am also going to run the benchmark without my CPU overclock although I dont believe it to be the problem.

The thing that gets me is farcry on very high doesnt cause any artifacts and it is pretty intensive (although I have not tried Doom which I have read has caused artifacts on other 6800s.)

I am not terribly worried about it - if doom 3 doesnt display artifacts I will just wait a few months and call BFG about the issue - that should give them proper time to do a revision in case the issue is hardware related (plus while these dual fans look nice id prefer something else 🙂

I have an eVGA Geforce 6800GT (61.77 drivers) and am getting artifacts on the second test as well. Also getting extreme artiifacts on the second half of the 3DMark 05 demo. Anyone else having these problems with a 6800?

The aftifacts might be from you card overheating. I have read about other peoples cards that have overheated and gave them artifacts. Have you checked to see what you temputures were while playing any games.

my bios ends in .15 and im getting major freezes during 3dmarko3 and 05 and some games. do i need a bios update for my gpu? if so were can i get it and how do i flash it, and will this void any warranty?

It seems I am not alone. I dont believe that my graphics card is overheating - or at least specifically not the core. I wonder if a piece of RAM isnt covered by the heatsink well enough. In any case I left open temperature monitor and alt tabbed during the second test. The temperature was 65 C which isnt so bad at all (53 C idle.)

I wonder how many this affects. I do get like a single artifact in the beginning of the third test but mostly it is only the second test.

Assyrian you have the bad BIOS. You need to contact BFG and get them to tell you to BIOS flash your card (CYA and all that.)

I am going to call BFG if the artifacts continue without my CPU overclock. However I think I will wait to do it. I need my computer to do so many things for school right now that I am going to wait until the semester is over to RMA if it comes to it after all RMA can take so long and the warranty is lifetime. Maybe if I wait long enough the 6700 will come into production and production will halt on 6800nu so that I can recieve a slightly better card 🙂
