Artifacting???

Hi,

Silly question, but I don't know that I have ever seen artifacting and wondered if someone could describe exactly what I am looking for, as I have seen hundreds of reports of artifacting on 7900 cards but I wouldn't know what was and what was "artifacting"?

The reason I ask is I have noticed almost hoizontal wobbles (almost like ripples in water) on some very high res games (1900 x 1200 with AA/AF maxed on COD2), but these are tiny now, although weren't there at all until recent BIOS changes and memory upgrades, and I am wondering if this is "artifacting" and is it caused by video memory getting to hot, as my waterblocks don't cool memory on VGA cards and these have copper RAM sinks?

artifacts for me is like so -> if i'm looking at a textured wall or cliff, if my card is pushed too high, little white specs will begin appearing randomly (for a split second) throughout the texture. At least, that's artifacting for me...

Artifacting is the appearance of visual defects in a 3D application. You may see flashing dots, bands of wierd colors and other things.
