ok, went from a 7800 gtx to this new x1900xtx. did a full reformate, drivers that came on the cd, pent 3.4 and 2 gigs of ddr 2 ram and no overclocking whatsoever on the card or cpu. im runnig the game settings on high and 2x aa, ive tried all settings and i get this same artifacting. when using night vision or when i get flashbanged im getting these vertical lines and artifacts. on night maps when i have night vision on i get some strange "fog" around all the streetlights that was never there with my nvidia either but these horixzontal lines make it almost unplayable. heres some screenies of the problem.

since it was a clean install and i used the drivers from the saphire install cd what do you guys think this is? i never had any problem like this with my 7800 GTX. im at a loss here other than doing another reformat and maybe using the web drivers from ati.

I would certainly use the latest drivers from ATi, you most likely wont need to reformat.

BF2 nightvision issues was fixed in Cat 6.1 but cat 6.1's do not work with x1900's. Once the 6.2 are released (next week) all should be well.

ATI doesn't have drivers for the 1900's yet so you have to use the beta-ish drivers that come with the card. I've heard that the Omega 6.1's work with this but have not installed them myself to confirm.

Have you tried the Omega drivers based on 6.1? I'm using them with my X1900XT and it fixed the issues I was having with night vision "blooming" and shadow problems with BF2/SF. Omega drivers.

Edit: Oops, didn't see that ayabe had already posted about the Omegas. ;)

This is a known problem with the 5.13 drivers unfortunately. ATi was stupid enough not to release beta 6.2 to the public during R580s launch. Good news is 6.2 is coming in less than a week and will fix your BF2: SF problems.

Zbox, I still have a few texture issues with the Omega 6.1's but it's nothing I can't live with until the 6.2's come out. The shadow "jumping" on weapons that I had with the retail CD drivers has cleared up, too. I'm just happy that BF2 SF is playable on night maps now. That night vision "blooming" problem was getting me killed every time I was near a light or highly reflective object.
