Hi,
I have an X2 4800+ and an SLI Premium (Bios 1009) with 4X512MB Kingston HyperX PC-3200 2.5-3-3-7 and a 680W PSU Zalman 7000B LED. X1900 XTX Default
I set the hyper transport to 4X, DDR to manual and @ 333 CAS 3 (from 2.5)
Raised the FSB to 225 so the CPU now runs @ 2700. PCI set @ 33.33

My problem starts when I play Quake 4. a few minutes into the game, the graphics start to get corrupted. It only happens if the CPU is overclocked. How can I fix this?

TIA

Don't overclock your CPU orion23 :p

Seriously, what are the case temps like and what video card cooling solutions are you using orion23?

I don't know about the case temperature, but the cpu runs idle @ 40c and and under load @ 50-53c. The video card is running stock speeds and with the original cooler.

Without stability issues. I say that your graphic card overheated, so you get artifacts. Since your CPU temp is 53 underload, it is not your CPU overheating.

a few minutes into the game, the graphics start to get corrupted.

This is the classic sign of graphic card overheating. To confirm this, check graphic card temperature while gaming. If it is pretty darn hot, try improve the air flow in your case.

Could it be that his PCI-Express is being overclocked as well? His HTT is low enough that it may allow the video to boot... Have you tried messing with the PCI-E settings? Sometimes setting it to auto locks it, sometimes setting it to 100 does.

Like I said before. This is the first time I try this. I really don't understand why overclocking the CPU affects the video card.
How can I lock the PCI-E slot so it doesn't overclock?

TIA

I would guess that the PCI-E locks itself by default. Like I said, try changing the PCI-E frequency. Have you tried running just two dimms? Maybe your memory controller just can't take having 4 dimms at once (I'm just guessing).

I dont think it is that. I have same problem and I only have two dimms. What is the load temp on your video card? Run ATI tools to see what your load temps are with the CPU overclocked and then without the CPU overclocked. The only thing I can think of is that since your CPU is a little hotter it is making your case temp higher thus increasing your video card temp.

I would think the video chip is getting a little toasty...especially with case temps like those. Open up the case and see if it still does it.
