Guys, how hard is it to install this thing onto my BBA 9800 Pro. DHeffer and others have reccomended this to me due to the OCing benefits, plus the fact that I flashed it into a 9800XT. I built my computer, but I got a retail A64, so I'm alright with the thermal grease. How hard would it be to install, and due to my current skills-building my comp, do you guys think I can do it? I wanna get some replies before I order from cooler guys!
Thanks,
Kishan

I just installed one last week on a BBA 9800 Pro, it was a breeze. Just be as delicate with the video card/GPU as you would with your CPU.

Apply the thermal grease on the GPU as you would on your CPU. Ensure the die is completely and evenly covered with a thin but opaque layer of compound. If you have AS5 or AS Ceramique or their equal I'd recommend using that instead of the included grease. You'll have better luck over a long period of time as AS products resist drying and pumpout.

I just installed mine a few days ago. It's super-easy, and I've never installed any aftermarket cooling before. And my card is actually cooler now at XT speeds than it was with stock cooling at regular speeds :)

Its easy to isntall its quiet and allows for a good over clock. Juist use some AS5 instead of the generic white stuff that is included. Plus you can't beat the price it can be found for about $15 thats a good deal.

...if I may add my two cents... I think the biggest thing that you have to keep in mind is to not over-tighten the mounting screws, as this can actually damage the GPU. The two screws should be tightened a little at a time (first one and then other) until "tight" (just not gorilla-tight).
I've got my X800 Pro running with a VGA Silencer Rev 3 at about 10C cooler with OC'd under load.

good luck,
Kevin

How do you guys know that the 9800P GPU is "10C" cooler? I'd like to know how I can tell with my own card. I know that due to the DHES that my overall case temp is like 2C/3C lower but I have no idea how much cooler my GPU is...
