Artic Silver removal?

Joyride

I got a 1 gig Axia T-bird and installed it with that artic silver compound and fan, before I saw that I had to "unclock" (or unlock which is it) to OC it.

Is there a safe way to remove the fan and the Artic Silver so I can OC my t-bird?

<< artic silver compound >>

do you mean the thermal grease or the thermal epoxy?

Oh my. I do hope you are referring to good old Arctic Silver/Arctic Silver II, which can be safely and efficiently removed with rubbing alcohol and a rag. Hopefully not Arctic Silver compound which can be unsafely removed with a hammer and chisel or the power tool of your choice. Drum roll please................

there are a few things that will remove it... nail polish will get it off of your core and HS/F, but you'll need something like WD40 or goo gone to get it off of your ceramic (if you're sloppy like me and slopped it all over the place)

Just checked the official site and its ok to use WD-40 on the ceramic not the heatsink base

I don't remember it saying anything about if Dawn touches the heatsink base.

so I am gonna use that (was going to anyway)

If you're nervous about using WD-40 then you actually can use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover to get it off the ceramic.....you just have to rub for a really long time.

all that rubbing won't harm the contacts to unclock it right?

do you have a link to a tutorial for unclocking it?

is 58 degrees C a good temp for this processor?

Any of you live in or near Des Moines, Iowa and wanna help me out?

i've pretty much POURED wd-40 all over my processor, still works like a charm, all i had to do was re-pencil the L1 bridges.... i've done it 3 or 4 times, so WD-40 is safe for at least that many times...
