Plycon and Inflowdirect are the ones I keep forgetting!!!! grrrrr

;)

Oh... and if you're gonna use it on a Celly, get the "large contact" area. If it's for a cumine, get the small contact area.

I ordered some arctic silver recently (still waiting to arrive) for my Duron...

I believe the compound on my taisol isn't even there anymore :)

Anyways, what's the proper way to apply these on Durons? I know I have to put very little and barely cover the surface of the core but is that all?

Changing fan to F0P38 btw...

I don't know, but i blend cooper powder with normal thermal compound and temp goes down 2C.

i wouldn't go double thickness... there would be too much excess. I think a 30% thicker layer than normal would qualify as a "thicker" layer. Because of the nature of arctic silver, a little bit more odesn't hurt anything.

Culex,

Normal thickness would be probably a transparency sheet thick? Its hard to describe, but thin, and even.

JavaCool,

Rubbing alcohol pads should do the trick for you.

I ordered my Arctic Silver from CoolingStore and it really does work well to answer your question, my friend uses it on his dual Celeron system and now his CPU's overclock 2 more FSB.
not bad for some silver paste!
well worth the money...

I think a little thicker is best. Since many people are replacing the PCTC on the hsfs, most HSFs are not machined very flat. They don't have to be with PCTC as it fills the small gaps when it changes. Ideally, if you have a very smooth and flat hsf then AS should be almost transparent but, if your hsf has machining marks in it, apply the AS a little thicker. The AS website has good instructions if I recall. Keep your finger away as the oils in yor hands mess with the AS.

To give you an idea how well Artic Silver works...

The cooling system:

DangerDen copper waterblock (3/8" straight fitting
2" x 2" x 3/8" copper coldplate
TE Distributing 80-watt (12V nominal, 16.1V max) potted Peltier module
Eheim 1046 inline pump
Senfu dual-fan radiator, with reducers cut off (to permit 3/8" tubing), using its stock fans
Artic Silver on all contact surfaces

The victim:

Intel Pentium III 700E, cB0 stepping retail (week 20 Malaysia
Asus S370-133 slotket
Asus P3V4X motherboard with A.S. on Northbridge heatsink and additional heatsink on ICS chip

The speed:

1035 MHz @ 1.80V Vcore, stable in all applications and games

The temps, with SETI@Home and Winamp running:

Ambient: 32 deg. C
Processor: 8 deg. C, spiking to 11
Coldplate: 0 deg. C

The stuff 0w|\|z. :D
