how much artic silver should i put on me p4 1.6a? do i just put it all over the top of the p4?

you actually need very little.......less than 1/2 of a pea.

you just need to apply it on top of the core at the center.

so i don't need to take off the metal piece that has the pentium 4 logo on it?

no just cover the metal piece with the AS.
make it very thin - like your painting it, no thicker.
use a plastic bag over your finger to spread it around.

i got the artic silver on and put it back into my system but it seems like it runs hotter than before. i've also bought a volcano 7+ and have that on also too. did i do something wrong. i put the artic silver on the back of the cpu and none on the heatsink. i put it back on the mobo. then i ran some benchmark and the temp just keeps on riseing. need help on it.

I would guess you put too much on.

You just need barely enough to cover the writing.. paper thin or less.

Also.. make sure all the old black thermal tape crap is cleaned off using the cleaning methods in the AS instructions.
