A precocious 3-year-old Lawrence County boy who figured out how to use his father's blowtorch set several fires on Friday morning before walking on a normally busy highway with his pet bulldog, who held good Samaritans and police at bay.
...
"He's a bright little boy. He's going to be a pistol," said Shenango police Superintendent William Phillips with a laugh

Looks like the boy caused several thousand dollars worth of damage. Mother was asleep after working late. Like any dangerous device, this blowtorch should have been stored in a place where the child could not get to it. Glad no one was hurt, this could have ended very badly.

Glad no one was hurt, this could have ended very badly.

Sounds like the pit bull was specifically keeping a stray 3yo safe and yet you question the safety. Hmm. If I were the boy's parent and he got away from me like that I would take comfort in the knowledge that the pit bull will keep would-be predators away from him.

Notice any difference?

This is part of the problem with the hysteria about "Pit Bulls". People don't even know what a pit bull is, and attribute that title to a bunch of different breeds.

In all seriousness this story doesn't bode well for this kid's long-term prospects. This is major anti-social behavior, and starting fires is a predictor of future predisposition toward violence. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but I hope his parents take this seriously.

Shoulda just shot and killed them both.

The kid is going to be trouble when he gets older...and if the dog truly was a pit bull...well, it's a pit. Just shoot them all.

I think the fires thing, along with torture to animals and wetting the bed late into teens really don't tend to pronounce themselves until 8-9+, when the child actually understands and willingly begins to take part in such acts.
