Ars Technica article on SDXC and CFAS memory cards

Ars Technica article.

Ars Technica article on why SDXC and CFAST cards and why it might be a while before we see them. The article makes sense in saying vendors will have trouble pushing the newer (and likely expensive) memory card types and the need for higher sizes is probably unnecessary considering how large memory cards are today and even shooting raws we can get hundreds of photos in a 16GB card and probably a thousand raws in a 32GB card. No need for 64GB or 128GB or whatever size just yet. Although for those with a lot of raws, they would love faster memory card more than anything I'm sure. Memory cards are so compact that a pro could carry 10 memory cards in his pack with no trouble and it'd last him a long long time.

Makes sense. Unless you shoot a TON of HD video, even a 16GB card is overkill for most people.

Well, you know...we're gonna need 2TB SDXC cards for when the 25 megapixel Canons come out next year for $110. To go with our new quad-core Windows 7 machines 😉
