EVE online is a fun game to read about. All kinds of wacked-out epic scale ****** happens in there. I remember seeing an article in some gaming magazine about some insane-scale in-game player-run corporation with a couple of bazillion ISK worth of assets was completely obliterated by in-game assassins turned sabateurs.

The initial contract was for simply the death of the leader of said corporation, for a couple hundred thousand ISK or something. But the target rarely traveled through open space, and was extremely difficult to get anywhere near. So they infiltrated every level of the entire corporation, and the leader of the entire operation went so far as to become the target's best friend and love interest, as well as the second-in-command. At that point, it would have been easy just to blast the target, but they wanted more. They wanted to make a name for themselves. The target happened to own the most ridiculous ship in the entire game - none had ever been killed, or some such other nonsense. The lead infiltrator convinced her to fly it to a meeting, or something, "as a display of the power of the corporation" or some such crap. He took another powerful vessel from the inventory, and set off. Mid-trip, they pulled off the ambush, and destroyed and killed the target with little difficulty, blowing the living crap out of the escape pod and actually ending the player's character.

Simultaneously, lower level operatives stole every single asset and ISK they could get their hands on. And then they collected the balance still due on the contract.

The target's player probably commited suicide, or something.
Ahh yes, the Guiding Hand Social Club. They stole something along the lines of 30bil ISK, it was the biggest scam/theft in EVE up until this recent EIB scam.
