I used to use the old DOS utilities for such problems. One was PcTools DiskEdit. Really nice since it shows the partition table as named fields, but you have to know the size of the partition in cylinders / tracks / sectors to correctly restore it.
I'm sure there exist some newer programs that will do similar work and are still obtainable :)

I miss the hex editing part of the old version of PCTools. Man, that program was awesome. I have yet to find as good a hex editor as that old ass program. :)

EDIT: Sorry to hear about it Zebo... Happen to have any of the stuff you lost backed up?

I have used a program called testdisk several times to recover lost or deleted partitions, so more that likely it will work. It's free too, so that makes it even better. Here is a link to a webpage that even gives step by step instructions for recovering an accidentaly deleted partition with it. It's worked for me every time and even found partitions that were written over, so definatly worth a try..

Damn, sorry to hear that Zebo. Goes to show that no matter how long we've been doing this, we still screw up sometimes. I definitely feel your pain.

Here's to hoping you get everything back. :)
