My favorite pirate game was Uncharted waters...the original one....not too sure if people remember that one.

They shouldn't have made this. They removed the sword fighting and other parts of the game, so it is nothing like the original.

I do as well. I had the ROM for awhile. Uncharted Waters: New Horizons sucked though.

Also, check out Port Royale if you want a pretty good game in the spirit of Pirates! I enjoy it alot.

Sid Meier creates excellent games. The old Pirates was awesome and great on the old C64. Played it for many hours around '87-'88.

I might even buy this one when it comes out.

Did you read the linked article?

Once you close and board with the enemy ship, it's time to duel. This sequence takes place on the deck of the ship with plenty of sailors fighting around you. You square off against the enemy captain in a one-on-one duel trying to push him back against the stern railing of the ship. The number pad offers nine moves -- from chops, thrusts and slashes to dodges, ducks and parries. As you move up and down the deck, you'll encounter stairs and ropes that you can use for pre-scripted motions. Drive an enemy captain down a set of stairs and you'll see your captain grab a rope and swing down to continue the fight. If you dodge, or rope swing at exactly the right moment during a fight, you get an extra attack at the end of your animation helping you maintain momentum.

The original Pirates was a blast! I'll definitely be getting this one. Too bad it doesn't have multiplayer support though, it would be a lot of fun.

There was also a PC version. Maybe an Atari and Mac version, but I can't remember.

Did they replace the swords with walkie talkies?

Hmm, then they decided to add that after all, in all the previous announcements that was not in.

Reminds me of the old days of playing Taipan on an Apple II+.
I've now got it running on my Palm.

You can't play an evil pirate so what's the point? Also, your character ages and gets useless and has to retire. Screw that.

I wish they would make this and Civ for xbox. But then again my g/f would never see me again.
