Oh well! It was worth it to join you guys. I had 320 units in my old group. I just signed up with you guys and didn't read the fine print that my units wouldn't transfer....Dammit!

To top it off, they have their CGI shut off right now so I can't update my name to have the same name as here... Oh well, glad I can be of assistance to you all!

bunker (scrappy in seti for now :( )

*edit* I don't seem to be showing in the Group list on Seti's page? In my personal stats it says I'm a member....hmmmmmmm

Welcome Bunker!
Don't worry the group list sometimes takes a day to update.
The general rule in seti is the WU follows the email address, any idea how they go about holding onto your Work Units?

Hey wiz. I actually keep my wu in my personal stats, but my old group also keeps them. Anything I do from here on out goes to TA.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

When I changed groups from my old one to TA my WU followed me over and was added to TA, subtracted from the old group. That is the only way I have ever seen it happen. With Seti the WU follows the email address you use to register, send and receive the WU.

Your wu's go with you wherever you go! This is not RC5, LOL. Give the stats sometime to update, you will see. Believe me, we feel the pain when someone leaves our TeAm...it really hurts the stats.

Thanks for Joining TA! :)

worst case, you can quit the other group and then join TA again. that will definitely transfer your units.

<< Welcome to TA btw :D

What machine(s) do you run SETI on?
>>

I have two, but it's only running on one because everytime I set it up on the other, it downloads a wu, completes it, then says I already completed that one. I gave up.

The one I'm running it on is a PIII Xeon 933mhz (work pc, can't o/c) w/ 1Gb of rdram, a 15gb scsi (quantum i think) hd running Win2k. It's putting them out at around 8.5-9 hours (I keep seti running while I'm working so it slows it a little)

The other is a PIII 600E (too chickensh1t to o/c!) w/ 256mb ram and a 20gb 7200 rpm maxtor drive running Win98se. Don't know how long it takes to run on as I get that message everytime it finishes and the wu stats are already gone from the screen.

Any help on how to get it to run right on both machines would help!

That Xeon should smoke through WU's ,what size is it L2 cache?.
Any idea how much cpu time(in %)your work uses?

If you want the fastest WU times you need to use the CLi(text) version of SETI. Get it here.Works on all Windows OS btw.

Also to make the CLi client minimise to the sys tray, easier to manage & to store WU's to ride through server outages you'll want to use SETIDriver.

Let us know if you need any help :)

Assimilator,

I'm never going to get great times on the Xeon because the machine is always running IIS, SilverStream Server, and SQL server (24/7). I do java development so those have to stay up (testing, etc...). Not sure on the L2 cache as I'm not at work. If I remember I'll check it tomorrow.

What I could use help on is figuring out how to get seti to run on two machines using the same email address. Like I said in my previous post, everytime I d/l a wu on the second machine and run it, it says I have already completed that wu.

Just log on as an 'existing user' & enter your SETI email add, thats it:)

I really dunno what's going on there! ,have you tried uninstalling it(if GU) & re installing it?
Is the machine otherwise stable?

The machine is stable, never had any problems.
I have downloaded and reinstalled several times using the gui, allthough I haven't tried it in about a month, so maybe I'll give it another shot and see what happens.

If I have any more problems, I'll start a new thread.

Thanks for the suggestions!
