I'm installing an OS on a Dell PowerEdge 2650 and one of the PERC controllers is still configured for a SCSI array that's currently down...So now the thing is beeping and I won't be able to make it stop until it finishes copying files.... How nerve racking!!!! AAAaaaggghhh!!!

Snip the speaker leads?

I would, but I'd have to pull the server out of the rack to do that and take the cover off. By that time it will....wait! It just finished. w00t!!!!

Speaking of beeping. I remember when the nextels first came out and like all the manager would have one. They will leave their nextel in the office charging. One day one of them is out and some guy send an alert to this nextel and if you know the nextel if you don't press the button the beep will go on every minute. I was sitting right outside of the office and you can see how annoying this is. I finally broke down and break the door and dis-assemble the nextel and thew it to the garbage. 😀

I had to listen to that for half a day once when one of my RAID drives went out and I had to call frantically all over town looking for a replacement. Zero downtime though - the server barely even slowed down. PERCs rule!
