I have a multifuction laserjet 3100 and it has'nt worked for about a year cause the drivers It came with (win98 time frame) don't work with XP or 2000. I go to thier web site and they don't allow you to download the new driver either. They want 10.98 for a snail mail CD.

This is outrageous! Charging for driver for a $700 printer.

Wha?

That is pretty weak. I'd be calling their 1-800 number and be raising hell.

Hey, I have a multifunction 3100 as well. Had the same problem when I upgraded to XP. Luckily, I found the drivers at www.driverguide.com. It is free registration, but once you register, just do a search for HP LJ3100 and look for the XP drivers. They work, and it saved me. Let me know if you can't get to them, I will send it to you somehow.

Thank you very much:) I found them and downloading right now. Is this a form of warez? I mean HP obviously holds the copyright and is charging (bastards that they are). How can this site be giving them away?

Don't know how they got them. Saved my butt though, and after forking out all of that money, we deserve them. If for some reason that link doesn't work for you, here is another link. The LJ3100 drivers are about half way down the page.

Heh, I bet it's just because I work for the county, but HP sent us HP driver CD's for free, and we didn't even need them.

How old is the 3100? I have a PSC 750, and HP will send me the CD for free as far as I can tell. The PSC is still supported though, so that may be the rational behind it.

Yeah, HP has some pretty good customer service as long as you call them...case in point...at work we carry HP desktop computers and instead of the computers now coming with restore disks, part of the hard drive is partitioned off (which I think is stupid, because when the hard drive bites the dust you loose all the drivers and everything). I told them to call HP and that it might cost them to get a restore CD, but HP sent it to them free-of-charge...they aren't that bad :)
