Arronosfky's Mother! was hard to watch. Very.

I loved all of his movies in the past. This one is even harder to watch. It really made me uncomfortable. But then, I had forgotten how traumatic Requiem for a Dream was when I first watched it. I guess Black Swan was kind of tame, so mother! was like a kick in the butt.

Lots of movies make tons of allegories. But this one is basically re-imagining the bible from start to finish. It only clicked to me once I read it on reddit. The entire movie is basically Old Testament, Jesus' birth, and start of Christianity. The entire thing is on-the-nose. Just brace yourself. It was much tougher watching this than Requiem because it dealt with pregnancy and newborn.

If you don't watch this, you're not really missing out.
