Grumble... I borrow my dad's car for long stretches because he doesn't use it much (ever?) and we do have some uses for it from time to time. Well, as some of you know, in NYC we have "alternate side parking" which means that 1-2 days per week, you have to vacate your parking spot for the street cleaner to do its thing. Usually this means double parking on the other side of the street for 1-3 hours then re-claiming the spot.

It's common to have the rule suspended for religious holidays, which it was for three days this week (Islamic holiday, apparently), but not today. Me == pwned. Dad == pissed (I'm sure). I haven't lived at home for what, 13 years now, but little mistakes like this still upset parents, it seems. <sigh>

How about some sympathy? :) And let me get how the possible replies out of the way:

- yuo == teh pwnedX0R!!!!111one
- no0b!
- pay the ticket and STFU you law-breaking miscreant.

Did I miss any? I must say I do feel a lot better now.

CLIFFS:
Forgot alternate side parking today, got ticket, pissed-off the parental unit. Perpared for abuse here. :D

It's like $65 which is not exactly a collosal sum, but this is the second time it's happened in maybe a year (maybe longer, IMO not that bad), plus there was that one innocent EZPass violation and the little fender bender trying to avoid a second one. Can you tell why I don't like cars? The sad thing is I'm taking the car back on Monday so I was one alternate side day from a clean record, so to speak. Grrr.

Pay the fine for Dad. It was your fault.

Also get the car detailed.

Washed, waxed, polished, vacuumed, etc. (Inside & out) sometimes even the engine compartment.

Profesional places will cost about $75.

Makes the car seem close to new.

LOL he had suggested the other day that if I happen by a carwash on my way to bring it back on Monday I should make use of their services. In any case, I'll make good use of the DustBuster before it goes back. :D

I probably racked up $1000 worth of those $27 street cleaning tickets in the 10 years I lived on a street like that.

Life in the big city :)

Although I think if they were $65 in my neighborhood I would have made it a point to be a little more cognizant of what day it was and where the car was. That's steep.

You pay the ticket. Pop does not need to know.

Provide a clean car and you will be golden.

Hmmm, I figured he'd get a receipt in the mail but maybe I can get away with it. :D FYI, it was $45 (finally went by the car to pick-up the nasty orange envelope).
