Can any of you CD burning experts assist me? Here's my setup: Easy CD Creator 4.05, Plextor Plexwriter 8/4/32 IDE as master, Toshiba SD-M1402 DVD-ROM drive as slave, Imation CD-R media. I'm trying to burn ~300 MB of data. When I'm through, I can read the disc fine in the burner, but not in the regular DVD drive. Yes, I closed the session. The DVD drive is relatively recent, it can read other burned discs just fine.

I've had the burner for a while now, but never really used it much. I have the need to backup a lot of stuff now, though. Just a couple of months ago, I remember making a data CD, just dragged and dropped and it worked great. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong now. I tried disabling DMA, writing at 4x instead of 8x, but I still have the same problem.

What options should I be using? Joliet or ISO-9660? Track-at-once? Session-at-once? Disc-at-once?? Arrgh!!

-I would try burning using Disc at Once. Are you burning from DVD player to burner or an image on the harddrive first? I would also try putting your Burner on an IDE chain by itself. Its not good to put the burner and the CD/DVD-rom on the same chain. BTW I have the TDK 8X ide burner (same as the plextor) and the Toshiba 6X DVD-ROM drive

But the thing is, I've successfully burned stuff in the past with this same setup. My DVD is capable of reading CD-Rs.

-Then it sound slike your DVD rom does not like the Imation disks. Try using another brand.

I had a similar problem recently and was able to track it back to an old HD I used it for storing all my apps and stuff. Just a stab in the dark but if you do have an additional drive that u burn from, copy the data to your main HD and burn it from there. The see if your DVD drive reads the data.

Other than that do what the other guys say, just try a new media. I suppose it could be a bad batch, it may have sat in the sunlight too much! 😉

Use Joliet and Disc At Once option. If the burned CD-R still can't be read it must be the DVD drive having problems. Then you can try using a different CD-Rom or DVD Rom from another unit to try reading the burned CD-R to see if it can be read.😎
