Arrg! Some stupid jerk tried to hack my router/firewall tonight

I was experiencing some network slowdowns and other odd network quirks. I then went to log into my router/firewall (freesco on a p400) and it refused my connection. Confused by this I decided to check my router/firewall directly and noticed someone was trying to force some type of code into it. While the routing and firewalling were working ok, I decided to shutdown the lan and reboot the router/firewall for a fresh start. Unfortunately the logs were reset as well, so I cannot see who was trying to do what.

Anyway, the lan is more responsive now and security was never breached here.

Freesco is pretty potent stuff. 😉

PS: I am going to have some :beer:s now.

Hmm...i always get people doing lotsa pings on my linksys. my computer will be off and the light will still be blinking constantly on my modem and router.

Heh, FreeSCO is pretty potent, but it has SERIOUS Masq table size problems - it's WAYTOOFVCKINGSMALL no matter what your settings, which makes it suitable for medium duty only.

Edit: And I talked to the devs on it, they can't do anything about it with that kernel.

what security you have on your router? i only put WEP and that is it. maybe i should set up MAC filter as well. this new westell isn't as friendly as my old linksys...

First, my firewall/router is a linux distro (Freesco) running on an AMD K6-2 400 PC.

Second, its a wired lan.

Third, it is pretty darned secure.

I have SSID off, MAC filtering, and WEP. I wish i could WPA, but not all the compies use WPA (some laptops).

that's just ARPs by lonely computers on the subnet.

thing is, the log shows several pings from the same IP using different ports, in a row....
