I was driving with my buddy to get some food and a big deer just runs across the street. My buddy ends up hitting it and busting its front leg open and his chest too. The thing was going nuts rolling and yelling. I felt so bad so I had my gun on me and just ended its misery and right then I see a cop and he pulls his gun out and makes me get on my face. Then arrests my for wreckless endangerment, firing a weapon in city limits and took my gun and my gun license away with me. Now I have to go to court and face a crapload of fines. You guys think the jugde will show sympathy?

Possibly, just explain you were puting the deer out of pain. You should of let the cop take care of it though.

I think you need a lawyer. You did the right thing, but wound up getting nailed by an overzealous cop.

so the gun was licensed ?

you may have a chance

if it was an illegal gun, then you would be headed for FPMITAP

Had he seen the cop before that he probably would have.

I have a hard time imagining Florida of all places would be so anal.

Hopefully the judge will toss it.

I don't see anything wrong with that, taking everything you wrote as true, and you did it safely.

I'd say if the judge has ever hit the deer himself, he probably will drop it, but then it is against the law, isn't it?

I think you have a good chance of getting it dismissed, or at least reduced. Get a lawyer though and let them handle it.

With a lawyer you will probably get away with just some fines.
Though you did fire a weapon within city limits and you do not have a lot of recourse in that situation.

def. get a lawyer, but if you explain your intent, i think you should be fine... as long as you don't get an asshat judge.

Perhaps if you explain that you thought the deer was a suspected terrorist...

If your lucky, you will just lose your license. Otherwise it could be time to buy some soap on a rope so you don't have an accident and drop your soap in the shower.

What you did was humane.

You may have a problem explaining the weapon.

I wish you well.

I can't imagine that the Humane Society or park service would be able to get there soon enough.

No good deed ever goes unpunished.

No matter what they slap you with, you did the right thing, and they can't take that away from you. Fvck em.
