'Arrested Development' announces 4th season, movie

(10-02) 16:17 PDT New York (AP) --

The Bluth family's frozen banana stand may be back in business.
The creators and cast of "Arrested Development" at the New Yorker Festival on Sunday announced plans for another season of the short-lived but critically acclaimed TV show, which went off the air in 2006 after just three seasons. They also discussed more concrete plans for a much-awaited movie.

Creator Mitchell Hurwitz says he wants to tell where the nine main characters have been for the last five years. Shooting for the TV show is tentatively set to begin next summer.
The movie doesn't have a release date.

The show featured a dysfunctional family who ran a collapsing real estate development company and frozen banana stand. Despite its rabid fan base, ratings were low, and it wasn't a commercial success.

I searched, sorry if repost.

this news is excellent.

I had heard about the movie--I think it was actually in the works before the show was first cancelled, but the new season...consider me titillated.

Awesome news. Always wondered why it was cancelled. It's comedy worked on so many levels - slapstick, non-sensical, subtle, and thoughtful all in one package.

fox regularly changed the schedule on it, iirc. i have it on dvd, i saw maybe 2 episodes on tv.

the other thing, and i mean i love the show...is that its hard to get into if you dont follow it from the start because you miss jokes and its not a traditional sitcom.

looking forward to more of it. easily my favorite tv show.

AD should have been on FX from the get-go imo

Probably won't be able to get Michael Cera back, but everyone else should be available. I can't see Will Arnett's new shitcom lasting more than a season.

No mention of a network being interested, that's puzzling. I'd love to see one of the cable channels swoop in to take it, I think they'd do better with it than a major network.

because americans are morons and need an audience laughing to cue them on when things are funny.

arrested development is made for a smarter audience than the average american.

The ONLY reason this is even possible is that none of the actors involved have since found a successful vehicle. Exluding Bateman who seems to be getting some ok movie rolls.
