Justin's being all nicey nicey and requesting or inviting the Poop to visit and meet with and other silliness.

I say have Interpol arrest him and haul him there in cuffs.
On what charges?

Will you arrest Angela Merkel for the atrocities of the Nazis 75 years ago?

How long do you take to think about the logic of these ideas/notions before posting them?

Slow down an extra 20% next time, and maybe rethink whether to post...jfc.

The Church has been around since before 2013.

The Pope, in whichever embodiment, has been at the helm since before 2013.

Has she been shuffling people around to protect them? Dude should have been arrested by half a dozen or more countries now. Basically a running criminal conspiracy for the last few decades.
So he's been Pope for decades, I guess? lol

Okay, so I guess you really are that stupid.

The summary here is: you're an alarmist idiot who wants vengeance, not justice

Francis has done more to change accountability and operating procedures than any other pope in history of Catholicism. But yeah, he's the "bad guy" for the past centuries/millenia of church abuses.

You need to start remembering your meds, man.

Do know the Pope is the head of the sovereign City-State of the Vatican? Interpol ain't gonna touch that.

Is it radicalizing large numbers of Catholics, leading to world-wide unrest that you're after or do you just want to make sure that the next pope will make Benedict look like Mr. Rogers?

Never happen, for the same reason that Interpol refused to arrest Trump on Iran's warrant.

I believe this shit, or the cover up for it was still going on even fairly recently, so acting like this was ancient history is nonsense. Obviously they won't put out an arrest warrant for the Pope, but they should be demanding all records pertaining to this stuff and be investigating those involved, and be talking about revoking whatever their special religious status (tax exemptions, etc) is in Canada if they don't. Until these organizations face real repercussions for this behavior it won't change.

And yes, Canada needs to really own their role in this as well. Unfortunately this will probably boil down to nothing as the two sides just blame the other for everything and then conservatives will get in lead roles at one or both and kill anything being done about it.

Benedict already is Mr Rogers compared to the previous Popes and many of the other high ranking Catholic priests, and its all but guaranteed they'll backslide and probably hard once he's gone anyway, so your threat isn't exactly meaningful. Its also plainly a stupid thing to say, as if trying to get proper acknowledgement of heinous misdeeds is enough to make them commit more then it just proves they should be fucking dismantled.

So if crimes were ever committed on OPs property within let’s say the last century he should be held liable?

"[T]rying to get proper acknowledgement of heinous misdeeds" is a pretty different thing than "haul[ing the current Pope] there in cuffs". I'm all for the former. The latter would be stupid and no good could possibly come of it.

Thank God, this has been an on-going saga from Benedict XVI's reign (well, it came to light then, it's been a problem for many decades). The Vatican has made some solid improvement, helped along by European banks who threatened to stop transacting with Vatican banks). About time some of them paid the price. The Church is a huge bureaucracy, and tends to move like one. Sadly, many priests and Bishops get too caught up in the things of this world an neglect there spiritual development, particularly in living virtuous lives. The laity suffer the same problems, of course, but the ordained are expected to live according to higher standard.

That wasn't his statement though. He's not looking to change the institution. He wants to end it, and hold Francis alone accountable for every crime ever committed (Francis is current Pope, by the way...not Benedict).

I could care less about the Catholic church, I hate it as a religious organization just as much as the next ex-Catholic. But I can also think rationally, which I don't think the OP is capable of.

He believes that the Pope should be the sole target of all of his (and everyone's) ire over the actions and non-actions of the Catholic church, despite his documented changes in the Vatican and church since he took power.

I agree that the church should be held accountable, and changes need to continue in order to avoid these types of cover-ups and scandals in the future. I just don't think putting Francis in cuffs is even a rational idea, much less an action that would accomplish anything.

At first I though he was just speaking in hyperbole, but now I think he really might be somewhat serious. Whatever the case, I agree it is a bad idea.
