Around Dallas with a SWBell DSL connection?

I'm helping my parents setup a DSL line in their house. They want 6 of the rooms wired with Cat5e outlets. I'll be looking for a router, and I was wondering if anybody here has had success with a particular router and SWBell DSL. I'll probably go for a 1 or 4 port router and add an extra switch. Also, what does the phone company typically do to setup the line for DSL? Do they just do some stuff at the phone box, or do they have to run a new line to the house specifically dedicated to the DSL connection? I appreciate any info.
