Hello all. I am looking for a nice AMD CPU to overclock, and I am trying to find an AROIA or an AGOIA-Y XP 1600+. Problem is, the cheapest pricewatch resellers seem to have zero clue what I am talking about when I ask if they have certain settings, and the two local computer shops (West Lafayette, IN) are absolute ripoffs for computer parts -- I refuse to give them my business. Anyone know any resellers who will sell me a specific core, or any other way to gaurentee I get the core I want?

Thanks in advance,

-Chu

I'm looking for an AGOIA also - Newegg had a good deal on them (specified it in the description) but I think those are gone because they leave it out of the current product description.

I found this at pricewatch - a few $ more but this may be the best we can do

Let me know if you find it else where for cheaper

thanks:

FYI - I email Newegg about ordering their Athlon 1600+ but asked if they would pick me out two with AGOIA-Y cores (I also said I wanted to order a few motherboards and other component - failed attempt to motivate them with a larger order) but this is the response I got:

"We currently do not have any information on the availability of this item. We will post this item on our website if or when it becomes available. We can not hand pick the CPU because we do not know if we have these particular ones in stock yet. We can try putting the information on our MEMO field, after you have placed the order, but there is No Gurantee for you to recieve the CPU you that you are requesting. "

I also went to a local store, they carried all the AMD accept the Athlon 1600. When I asked why, he shrugged his sholders and said they weren't available ??? Did AMD stop producting them because they competed against their newer, higher performance cpu's ??? Made the 1600 AGOIA-Y to good, poor planned obsolesence. AMD Marketing type must have been pissed at those engineering type - making too good of a product !! :)
