Lawmakers, having solved all the pressing issues facing the country....

Make sure that guy doesn't get re-elected... Ah-nold and the guy who introduced the amendment.

EDIT: Though this really does belong in P&N...

There's nothing keeping them out of advisor roles where their opinions can be expressed.

I wouldn't want to pave the way for George Soros to buy the election.

He can't be president.

Edit: I guess I should read the article first. Didn't realize people were talking about a Constitutional Amendment.

I thought he was originally from Austria? Thus not eligible to become president.

Edit: Yes, I too should have read the article first.

Arnold is a 1000 times better than the two asshat we have running now. He'd have my vote. Since he's foreign, why not just have Maria run?

Demolition Man? Who figured out of all the stupid movies about the future, this would be the one that's coming true?

I said in 1980 we'd never put an actor in the White House. I was wrong. But I still say now they will never get enough votes to amend the Constitution.

Meh, to me birthplace means nothing. Arnie is a man who came here with nothing and made himself into a globally recognized name. Now hes the governor of California and doing a fine job IMO. I'd rather have a self made man as the President than someone who grew up rich and had to work for very little.

For a country that's supposed to be tolerant and immigrant friendly, it sure seems like there's tons of a-holes and xenophobes south of the border.

Canada has had 3 out of 21 (16 if you exclude the accidental/short term PMs) foreign born PMs and look..the country still exists! There is absolutely no reason why any reasonable person would be opposed to such an amendmend.

So Arnold should move to Canada and run for PM? ;)

Yea, if it works in Canada it must work everywhere else!

From a personal standpoint I oppose it because I believe that as president your loyalty must be to the US and the US only. If you are foreign born your love for your original homeland might cloud your judgement.

since I'm foreign born (Taiwan), if I become president and China attacks Taiwan, I'd send US troops immediately! Which foreign-born person would stand idly by and watch his mother country destroyed when he has the most powerful military under his control?

In a land of nearly 300 million people, there should be no reason why a Born and Raised Leader can't be found. Though Bush makes a good arguement for electing Arnold! :D

Arnolds whole story and peoples jumping on the bandwagon to get him elected gives me the creeps. He doesn't even have a track record and already some are falling over each other to make him the most Powerful man alive. Even if he turned out to be a Great President, you gotta wonder how seriously some consider whom to be the One in Control of the Mythical Button?

This would ruin American Educational system altogether.

Can you imagine kids, let alone adults, trying to spell/pronounce President Schawenegger?

It would be the downfall of society.

I can't see this ever happening. Never. It would be tailor made for Arnold but who is to say he would win? Even if it were ratified, Arnold would never get the votes. No everyone is as superficial as California democrats who helped elect him gov in the first place.

We in Michigan have our own foreigner who I think would give anyone a run for his/her money if she were allowed to run. Jennifer Granholm. She is a very good speaker, she is quite attractive for an old white broad, and she is very charismatic.
