I don't follow college football but while channel surfing, I saw the name of the army team.
Black Knights. Wtf?

When I hear military and black knights in the same sentence, I think air force because of the movie independance day. (Will Smith's squadron was called the black knights.)

anyway, I expected something like the Navy in which their team name relates to them. (ie: Midshipmen)

Army Grunts or Army cadets would have been my guess.
never would have guessed Army Black Knights.

Knights would be considered mounted cavalry in the modern world so black knights seems to me an appropriate name for an army collegiate team. What is the air force's team called? The eagles? Something that flies?

They were the Cadets for more than 100 years. "Black Knight of the Hudson" was an unofficial nickname for a while, they officially changed from Cadets to Black Knights sometime in the 90s.

thx.

Knights of the Hudson would have been better imo.

Black Knights still makes me think Air Force due to the will smith movie
