Arms and feet COVERED in poison oak

Yeah, I scratched it. I messed up. My arm is FULL of poison oak everywhere. My face is starting to get some too 😛

Calamine lotion did squat. I'm trying vaseline, I hear that works.

Any other suggestions ?

Here's a hint, but it looks like you're already past needing this - make sure to wash affected areas _thoroughly_ before showering, especially if you're very allergic.

You could also try Tecnu, which is an over-the-counter product that breaks up the oils that cause the symptoms. I'm not sure if it will work after it's already gotten bad, but it's worth a try.

I'll second this. My brother gets horrible poison ivy. He says the Tecnu really helps. The stuff I got came with 2 bottles, one to neutralize the oils and one for itching.

I had it three times in April.
Go to doctor and get a shot and some pills.
In the future use Technu (wash a good 10 minutes) after exposure.
Zanfel is a better wash but is expensive.

Do what I do

Zyrtec and Prednisone.

When I get PI, nothing gets rid of it except those two things. Zyrtec is the antihistamine and Prednisone is an oral steroid that gets rid of the PI.

Both require a prescriptioni but my dr has no problems since she's prescribed it for me many times in the past years.

My last outbreak which I still have was caught from a string trimmer I bought at an auction. Its the only thing I can think of that might have the PI oil on it.

Scratch it til it bleeds and then apply oatmeal and duct tape it up. It will scab over and heal miraculously within a week. I actually did this... yes and it worked.

Only the resin will cause it to spread. So make sure you wash really well, and the clothes you were wearing that day. Just wash anything you tihnk may have that resin on it. The open wounds will not cause further spreading regardless of what other uneducated people will tell you. It may look like its spreading, but the heaviest hit areas will rash up rather quickly, and the other areas may take a little longer to show up. This gives the impression that its spreading when it is really not.

First thing to do is try some tecnu as suggested above. Vaseline might also help, slather it on, let it sit and remove. You might be past the point where cleaning can help, though. If you have an antihistamine, pop it. Aspirin might help, shouldn't hurt.
