I just got his album: State of Trance 2004, and I must say, this is some REALLY nice trance music. I am definitely liking his music a lot.

My favorite is still PvD, but its nice to have another artist to listen to. His style is different, and I definitely like it.

Don't know how many trance fans there are out there, but if your a fanatic like me, then this is definitely worth a buy (or a download off bittorrent :)).

Armin van Buuren has been becoming quite popular lately. I guess when you spin mainstream trance, that's what happens ;) DJs such as PvD, Oakenfold, and Tiesto are also jumping on the bandwagon. I remember reading an interview with PvD back in 99 about how he hated all of the club-hopping DJs who just played to make a buck, but look at him now.

Don't get me wrong, I love all of their stuff. Perfecto Records is putting out some great CDs and PvD is still producing killer 'progressive' trance. I just hate to seeing trance go too mainstream. If ya like Armin, I suggest you check out Christopher Lawerance, Sasha (Global Underground 013: Ibiza is one of my favorites), Timo Mass, Kimball Collins, Sandra Collins (Her new one is pretty good), Nick Warren (his Global Underground sets are awesome), Deep Dish, and of course Digweed.

I would have to agree with 3point14, I definitely feel a lot of the DJs are becoming very commercialized, Oakenfold, I feel, being the most. I absolutely hate all of his new stuff. I recently found all of his old mixes (12 hours in all) that had stored on my laptop, and I absolutely love it, but his newer stuff is pretty bad, and is diverging from his trance roots.

PvD isn't really a DJ, though, he still makes all of his own music! His album that he did mix, The Politics of Dancing, was really good. Though I definitely noticed a change in his music. Listening to Out There and Back and then listening to Reflections, you can hear a large difference. Also, when I noticed he was on the radio, that's when I finally realized he was getting popular, which, IMO, means there music gets worse (i.e. Oakenfold). Still, he's definitely my favorite. I hope he releases a new CD soon. I'm going to see him w/ a friend in NY in August, definitely excited for that
