Arkham City won't even open.

I get a windows error code, which I can't remember off the top of my head, but I'll post once I get home from work. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Trying to run the game thru steam on the rig in my signature. Have latest drivers.

Have you verified file integrity? Updated graphics drivers?

Make sure it's running DX9.

DX11 will not work, do not bother tinkering, it's a known issue.

Don't have DX11 on my system, so I don't know how it could run that way. I get the message The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000005). Click OK to close the application. I dried uninstalling and reinstalling twice. It's a legit copy of the game, I even bought it thru steam. Dunno what the deal is.

I'm not sure if the guy ever fixed it, but there are a few suggestions:

1) Update your sound driver. Or, you can go into your device manager, and simply disable your sound card before starting the game. See if that works.

2) Run a malware/virus scan. I suggest using Malwarebytes. Run the scan in safe mode to be sure.

3) Run Memtest86+ to check if you have bad memory in your system. Run it for at least a few hours.

Did you do a "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" check through Steam, like I said?

Well I tried memtest and verifying the cache. sound drivers are up to date. only option left is trying malwarebytes. Still the game doesn't work.
