Arkansas town expands 24 hour curfew

This law applies to minors...no Constitutional rights...😉

The juveniles of this species apparently haven't developed any brains yet, so controlling their interaction with the rest of the species is often necessary to prevent them from harming themselves or others. 😀

I grew up with an 11 p.m. curfew. Didn't really bother me. If the cops would have caught me breaking the curfew, that would have been easier on me than if my step-dad would have caught me...

Edit: When I originally read this story the other day, I thought it applied only to minors.
With the high crime rate in this little town, I'm still not sure this is a bad thing. I doubt that if you have a legitimate reason to be out at 3 a.m. the cops are going to hassle you, but if you're a drug dealer..you deserve to be hassled.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I read the article, it sounds to me like it applies to everyone.
I don't give a damn if a councilman thinks nobody has business out on the streets at 3AM, if I want to be out there, I have the right to.

"Now if somebody wants to sue us, they have an option to sue, but I'm fairly certain that a judge will see it the way the way the citizens see it here," Mayor James Valley said. "The citizens deserve peace, that some infringement on constitutional rights is OK and we have not violated anything as far as the Constitution."

I'm "fairly certain" a judge is not going to agree with "some infringement on constitutional rights"

"Helena-West Helena, with 15,000 residents at the edge of Arkansas' eastern rice fields and farmland, is in one of the nation's poorest regions, trailing even parts of Appalachia in its standard of living."

poorer than appalachia..cripes

that some infringement on constitutional rights is OK and we have not violated anything as far as the Constitution."

Some infringement on constitutional rights but we have not violated the constitution... am I reading it wrong or something?

hellooooooo contradiction.

Wonder what the law abiding residents who live in Helena have to say about this...

According to City Council, "those living in the city want the random shootings and drug-fueled violence to stop, no matter what the cost."

City Council voted 9-0 to expand the curfew outside of the 10 block area the curfew originally took effect in...

It's the classic "nuh-uh and anyway so what if I did"

Sounds like what this town really needs is some dude in a batsuit to tie a couple crack dealers to spotlights!

Sounds almost as bad as living in a HOA. Almost. 😛

LOL, is it really that bad? I am planning to buy a new house soon. Now you scare me.

The local news talked about this situation a few nights ago. That section of Helena was one of the worst <shooting, drug dealings, etc.>

Alot of areas you have no choice with a HOA, just try and get in one where there is little to no HOA activity.
