In August 2013, the district announced — to the great dismay of the teachers union — a dress code that would require teachers to wear underwear. Every single day.
...
The narrow 5-4 vote on Wednesday by the state school board effectively wrests control of the district from the local school board (but keeps Superintendent Dexter Suggs on the job on an interim basis).

This is just too funny :D Is there an epidemic in this country of teachers wanting their right to go commando in front of students? Apparently so, the state just took over full control of the school.

W. T. F.

Is this seriously something that needs to be dealt with?

I wonder how enforcement will work...

I don't think asking them to wear damn underwear to work is unreasonable, but I don't see how exactly it gets enforced.

local teachers union president Cathy Koehler explained her fear that “if an employee refuses to go home and change they can be considered insubordinate and risk losing their job based on an opinion.”
Oh heavens no! You mean, just like every other freakin' employee in the country that is subject to regulations?

Clearly an attempt to deny global warming. I stopped wearing underwear 3 degrees ago.

There was an unfortunate accident that occurred at a school and now they want to make sure it does not happen again.

What happened? Everything I have read makes it seem like this was just randomly added in an attempt to make the falling school better. It does not seem this was in response to anything that happened.

Is Hillary back in Arkansas? Seem to remember that same memo being circulated in the White House . . .

Somebody needs to tell Arkansas that when they were told to "go after the low-hanging fruit" to improve their schools, this was not what was meant.

Give me your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

Why does Arkansas hate freedom?

I'd bet it stemmed from a teacher with a skirt not wearing underwear and students caught a peek. I'd think not being allowed to expose oneself should cover those incidents.
