Diane Douglas, Arizona's Republican Superintendent of Public Instruction is attempting to "teach the controversy" concerning evolution where no controversy exists. She's also going after the big bang. Way to go Republican voters! Hopefully, the Arizona State Board of Education will slap her nose as they've had to do before on other equally stupid ideas she's pushed.

Jerking off in a liberal elitist thread.
Actually public education is EXACTLY opposed to elitism. It is basically "everyone needs to be educated." Elitism would be more "no need to worry your little brains about this complicated stuff, we will take care of you." The point is to raise up the individual as ro make everyone more equal, not to look down upon others.

Do you see how gullible you are being when you miss the fact that someone hoping we all have a standard level of education is actually striving towards broader equality? I know its contrary to the talking points but take a moment to think about it.

Education is NOT elitism.

Hopefully a proper court cites Dover, as they should, and sends these asshats on the board back home. Dover was pretty wide-ranging in scope, as federal precedent. It's amazing that these ignorant fools keep trying to push this nonsense because they clearly can't beat the constitution here, but it is disheartening to realize that there are still so many brainless morons that want to determine the education of our children and they keep trying.

Every so often someone brings this up and has their 15 minutes. Another idiot looking for the spotlight.

I'm sure it's widely taught in private fundie Christian schools. Add vouchers for a wider effect.

Both of my daughters attend private Christian schools, one of my biggest ironies, and amusingly enough both schools I have sent them to teach evolution in science class. I actually asked the question of the science teacher when I first enrolled my oldest, which got me quite a few elbows from the wife, and her response was, and I quote, "Of course we teach evolution, religion and science are two separate classes".

You didn't think they were going to just let teachers have some extra funding for nothing, right? Who am I kidding, they were going to propose this regardless. But now with that extra money they can afford to teach the controversy I'm sure is one way they'd try and spin this.
