GO ARIZONA! No amnesty, no illegals. Enforce the law the federal government refuses to do. I can see nothing that would drive hard working AMERICANs to the polls than congress to push for "immigration reform".

A prominent Senate Democrat asked Republican Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer to put off her state's controversial immigration law to give Congress a chance to act. Scant time passed before Brewer's answer came back: No.

Governor Jan Brewster can gain all the brownie points she wants to, but I suspect, its going to be the courts that have the first and final say. Either saying the whole law Arizona law is unconstitutional, or tying up enforcement for many years while it makes it slow way up to SCOTUS.

My guess, the Arizona law will never be enforced and die before it even takes effect in two months or so.

Similar laws to Arizona's law have been found unconstitutional (yes, even with the amendment).

How about the fed do something about the problem then? This hand-wringing and wishy-washy, PC way of handling the situation is clearly not working.

I obviously don't know the specifics of the law but I would like to see what specifically was unconstitutional about it.

Pretty much, and I think the other thread showed how ever so ignorant the people of Arizona are. :(

And yet the Fed hasn't followed the Constitution in a long time. I guess it's a good piece of paper when it suits them.

I don't understand how AZ's copy of existing Federal law is unconstitutional, though.

do your own homework...read the damn bill....

states can't change immigration laws, that's a Federal Government, the Supreme Court will support the Feds.

Is enforcement the same thing as changing the law?

If so, why do local police investigate bank-robbery; which is a federal crime?

I don't think I've seen any anti-illegal immigrant poster say that businesses bear no responsibility. In fact, businesses should be targeted as the first step with heavy penalties.

This law is born of frustration with the feds not doing anything to protect the country from the invasion. It will be tied up in courts for a long time, but something needed to be done and hopefully every other state starts looking at doing the same thing, then the feds will be forced to act. With the morons currently in power, I doubt anything good can come of it though.

Agree 100%

Every business that hires illegal immigrants should be slapped down hard.

Then we could better focus on stopping drugs at the border, as well.

I find it funny that all of you wanting to boot all of them out immediately don't seem to the mind the cost increases that will occur across the board for a lot of necessary items like food. Not to mention the tax base that would be lost.

Yet you squeal about any possible price increases that may come out of a cap and trade bill and state that it'll wreck the whole economy.

Yeah that guy making 15k a year picking berries and sending half to Mexico is really contributing to the tax base.

Sad when the votes of illegals are courted more than the votes of citizens.

70% of America supports what AZ is doing.

A large portion of LEGAL immigrants support what AZ is doing.

The American people (citizens) DO NOT want "reform" they simply want the existing laws enforced.

I wonder what the federal government will get this concept.
Its really not that hard.
