Arizona sunset pic I took

Took this at South Mountain park the other day. Don't know what that green cloud thing is...that showed up on a lot of pics I took. I'm guessing it's some kind of flare from shooting right at that firey ball in the sky 😛 Any photo guru's have suggestions on how to prevent that in the future?

The green is probably just the refraction from the sunset's angle. Similar to the purplish-blue or pinkish-orange haze when the sun is almost completely set down the horizon. Thats quite a bit of cloud cover in the green, so my guess is just the refractive nature of the particles in the clouds.

Ya, I figured it was something along those lines. Besides photochopping it, is there really any way you can prevent it in the future? Polarized filter maybe?
 
i used to have an awesome panorama i took from the top of the san francisco peaks (in flagstaff) during a burn on the south rim at sunset...it was like blue and black and red and yellow and orange and every imaginable color in between seemed like

az sunsets are the bestest 😀

No doubt. I've never in my life seen sunsets ANYTHING close to what AZ gets...and it happens almost daily here! I lived across the street from South Mountain in Phoenix and the sunsets that I got to witness daily were spectacular.
