um.....

why did you leave this part out??

About 500 undocumented immigrants housed in the Phoenix-area county's jail system have not complied with a 1980 federal law that requires all men between the ages of 18 and 26 to register for the draft, regardless of their immigration status

Because it sounds "funner" to people like him to leave important things like that out.

So you want criminals to be in charge of your country's security? You wouldn't mind a gang of convicted rapists and murderers to 'protect' your gf/wife/daughters/sisters/etc? They were locked up for a reason, let's release them, give them a weapon and see what the future brings...

If you have a problem with the way the federal law is written, wouldn't it make more sense to fault the law itself rather than the Sheriff/State for following that law??

Yes, but then most idiotic laws aren't being enforced in the first place.

Why are the people of Phoenix Arizona paying for these immigrants to live in jail here? Why don't they just deport back to their country?

Because they are our "Southern Citizens" and have been for quite some time now. Over 90% of the overcrowded Jail locally here in Gainesville Georgia is filled with ILLEGAL's from Mexico and the County is requesting a vote in a couple of months to increase Taxes to pay for a new larger Jail to house the current population and expected increase as more pour in at an even faster clip than the last few years.

This area is the fastest growing rate of the Mexican's coming here in the entire Country. History will show it as the Mexican Underground Railroad but it has been mainly by Greyhound Buses that they come in many Bus loads a day.

Usually they are in jail for another crime.

Also, the Federal government has the authority to deport, not the state/county.

There may also be some liberal lawyers around spending taxpayer money to fight any deportation actions.

Same freaking issue in Dalton, GA This is getting rediculous. Something needs to be done, but the Carpet mills keep sucking someones *@*# to keep them around for cheap labor.

Welcome to P&N Chadder

You didn't get the Memo? The U.S. was changed to Unestados De Mexico. The AT experts are thrilled about it in here along with the Bush Regime they support.

I thought that you can't serve in the military unless you are a citizen (born or naturalized). I remember an issue of when some KIA's were determined not to be US citizens, and that the Pentagon was lax in enforcing this.

So, it makes no sense to register in the first place if you are not supposed to serve.

Are they being kept in jails because they are illegal or because they committed another crime?

You do not hve to be a citizen to serve in the US armed forces.

I do not think that you even have to be a resident (green card).

I have meet non-residents (foriegn citizens) that were in the US military

You're right.
I think you only have to be a U.S. citizen if you are getting a commission.

You have to be at least a permanent resident alien to join the enlisted side. To become an officer or get an intel job, you must be a citizen.
