It is working and that's the purpose of this thread. It hasn't even gone into affect yet and illegals are fleeing the state going back to mexico or CA/another state. Like I said, it's win/win scenario.

I find it entertaining that this law mimics what is on the books at the federal level, yet these guys ignore that and as a matter-of-fact, seem to be gleeful that the feds don't enforce it.

Oh cool, so are you saying the "Sue the Local Gov if you don't think they are enforcing the law" is a mirror of a fed law?

Now, I'd love to hear that part was taken out, because holy zombie corpses that's a stupid piece of the law.

Make no mistake -- I would prefer that Arizona did not have to pass this legislation. I've said this in other threads. However, in my ideal world, they wouldn't have to because the federal government would actually enforce the laws, deport illegals, and secure our borders. Since our pals in Washington are too busy with, among other things, padding their own pockets and trying to figure out how to keep their power, they obviously aren't interested in doing their duty. Therefore, Arizona did something about the problem and I applaud them. Other states will follow, except of course the People's Republic of California.

Interesting developments.

Brewer wants panel to combat 'mistruths' on immigration law...

http://www.azcentral.com/news/elect...zona-over-immigration-law-criticism13-ON.html

"It's up to us to get the truth out there," Brewer said of the task force's rebranding mission. "Because this is impacting Arizona's face to the nation, based on facts that are not true."As an example, Brewer said it has been erroneously reported that the new immigration law would allow racial profiling and that visitors can't come to Arizona without ID, or they'll be arrested.

"You aren't going to be asked for ID, unless you commit a crime," she said.

And this:

Supporters organizing events or buycotts because of backlash from Arizona's immigration law:

• Backers of Arizona's tough immigration law hope to neutralize planned boycotts over the measure by organizing a "buy Arizona" campaign. The "buycott" will kick off at 7 p.m. May 29 with a rally at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Information: standwitharizona.org.

• Americans for Legal Immigration PAC and Tea Party Patriots Live are planning a rally from 4-7 p.m. June 12 in support of the state of Arizona, SB 1070, and the enforcement of existing border and immigration laws. The event is planned for Weslye Bolin Memorial Plaza, 1649 W. Adams St., Phoenix, across from the Arizona Capitol.

You really believe those hold a candle to Silicon Valley? I'd like to know what you are smoking.

Austin and the Research Triangle are very hot right now, and the Boston area is another hot area. Silicon Valley will lose more and more companies and people because of the screwed up financial situation in California. To be honest, I am shocked more haven't left.

FWIW, I love California from the perspective of its natural beauty and things to do, but I would never live there due to the expense and impending(?) financial disaster for the state. My favorite areas are the central coast (Monterey/Big Sur) and the Sierra range. I think San Francisco is a nice city -- to visit, but I could not tolerate the whacked out nuts who typically govern the place. I used to work in the Pleasanton/Livermore area on occasion when my former company had an office there, and I did enjoy my time there.
