I don't know if the 10G SFP+ Copper modules, are referred to as "10GBASE-CR", or "10GBASE-CU". The switch lists "10GBASE-CR" as one of the supported standards.

It is unclear after reading Wikipedia, whether a switch that claims to support "10GBASE-CR" (Copper direct-attach SFP+ cables, up to 15m / 10Gbit/sec), is capable of using a "10GBASE-T" SFP+ Copper transciever inherently, or if the switch explicitly needs to support "10GBASE-T" in its specs.
Also, I cannot quite tell if the Arista DCS-7050S-64, is the same switch as the 7050SX, or if the "S" is a prior generation, and the "7050X" series is the current set of models. The switching rates in terms of PPS and latency numbers that they quote are different, so that makes me wonder.
It would only be worthwhile for me to pick up one of these (monster) DCS-7050S-64 switches, if the 10G SFP+ ports could be used with 10GBASE-T Copper SFP+ tranceivers. Otherwise, it would be useless to me if I have to stick with fiber or DAC cables of a short length. (I can see this being popular with blade rack-mount servers though.)
My usage is consumer, but I saw a place where I can get these switches (the 7050S, not the 7050SX) for around $400 used.
