I have an old friend who is clamoring about how I should join Amway to make money on the side. I told this person that its a scheme where you have to get people under you to make any money. I said you basically advertise products to other people but yet you don't get paid, its only what other people spend on those products and they have to spend HUNDREDS before you actually see any return. I listened to one of the online presentations and it just tempts people that you can have a laid back lifestyle or have excess wealth.

They fire back saying well the people who started this have Havard backgrounds and know what they are doing. Network marketing doesn't work like this blah blah blah, I tried not to use the word pyramid, but I'm about to... any suggestions?

tell him you have a judgement against you and if you make any extra money they'll just garnish it anyway.

People can say what they want about Amway selling practices, but as far as I am concerned, the Amway products themselves are decent products. They may be a little overpriced on some things, but all in all the products are OK. I have used some of their products, mostly laundry soap, and the wife and I liked it. I am not saying Amway makes the greatest laundry in the history of the world, but the soap works good and the clothes come out clean and they smell nice. Like I said, the Amway products are not bad products, although the way they are sold is strange. I would have to say it is very unlikely that you would make a lot of money selling Amway products. But if all you want to do is make a few extra dollars each month, then selling Amway products is not all bad. Personally, if it was me, I would not sell Amway products. But that is just me. For some people it works out reasonably OK.

Tell them your an Amazon Associate, and that amazon offers a wider range of products and services then amway.

And guess what, becoming an Amazon Associate does not cost anything.

"I don't want a side job where I have to sell things."

No way to counter that.

Amway still exists? Who gets into these schemes? Even their DVD they pass around to recruit people is pathetic. I watched one and was amazed how cheesy it is.

One still gets 10-15% of the product price in your own pocket.

The big money will start to come from commissions due to other recruited sales people.

A few of my friends got wrapped up in this scheme and gave MY phone number to some Quix* reps. They called me and I declined. Another friend went and met with them and tore them apart, asking for business plans, financial statements, etc. They can't produce them, so why would some random person want to pay money to work???

Screw you. Every single person I've seen push Amway is either White or Chinese. Indian people are much too smart to fall for this bullshit.

Absofuckinglutely not true :) Most of the quixstar/scamway retards I've ran into have been Indian.

What happens when a sales person comes to your door in the middle of the day on a weekend while you are watching you favorite Blu-ray that you just bought? Do you try to reason/argue with him? or just try to get rid of him? so that he would go away... never to be seen again... disappear... you know what I mean?

These people are like the pesky bugs or mosquitoes that bother you in the park while you are trying to have a good time with your family and friends, what you do? spray yourself with bugs spray and ignore them or try to shoo them away, kill every single one of them? or do you break away and go home, letting them ruin your day...

They are like street racers or people with road rage on a scenic highway. What do you do? race with them? try to stop them from passing you? give them the middle finger? or just pull or move to the left lane over and let them pass and them enjoy your drive again?

If you still think that you have too much spare time, you are not watching a movie, do not have family or friends to go camping with, no scenic highways in your life, THEN I would suggest that you go to the local pig farm and wrestle with a pig rather than arguing with them.

No one can undercut Wal-Mart.
Why would I buy household items from Amway when I have to go to the grocery store anyway.

I used to work for Mary Kay and all their products are sold in the same fashion, where a consultant sold the products and got a commision. The lady that brought her in gets a cut, and so on and so forth up the chain.
How you can sell $5 Billion worth of makeup this way I don't know. But it is doable, and if you can stick to it, you really can make a lot of money. There are women selling over a million bucks a year of this stuff and they get 8-10% plus bonuses ect. If I could make $100K a year + a Pink Cadillac selling makeup, I'd put a dress on, change my name to Susan and start selling like no ones business.
