Purchased a new Toyota engine short block from a company in Neosho WI for almost 400 bucks and it was shipped in the original unopened box it came from Japan in.

Well FedEx busted it in transit and they denied the insurance claim saying it was not adequately packaged.

The box was severly damaged but my neighbor signed for it not me I would of denied it or at least had them open it before accepting it.

FedEx says it can be repaired! How do you fix a busted off mounting pin on cast iron? Weld it ha ha ha ha and the pin was driven half way thru so the hole was damaged.

Company is saying I need to fight FedEx.............. They said their decision is final..... Oh what to do.... Should of payed with a credit card.

Ken

P.S. The engine had a Snow delay in Montana due to you guessed it snow..... The package looked like it slid a long distance and then hit something then bounced around.

Quick Notes
Engine block sent via FedEx
FedEx busts it
Fedex denies insurance claim
Me out 400 bucks! :(

you might have to go to small claims court, but with the company in WI and fedex being a mega-corp, i dunno where you have to file

that sucks

Yes I left a signed note for them to have him sign for it if I was not there.

wow that sucks big time

screw fedex...keep b*tching, but BE VERY NICE ABOUT IT! and do not give up

saything like "oh no sir, I know a company like grand fedex would not place me in such a situation when they are responsible for the damege"

"oh but that cannot be sir, I have the insurance papers right in my hand, I paid for them sir"

always works for me...over and over again do not let them off the line....someone will give in...but as most people do not realize (while it does also work but not as much) yelling and screaming does not work

time to get a lawyer, or attempt to process yourself though the court system and get a letter sent to whoever needs it sent to.,

Anybody know the laws on shipping products. Especially rules and regs that says who is responsible for getting it to me in one piece not several.

I found stuff from the FTC on getting it to you in a timely way and refunds but nothing on actual shipping and who is responsible if damage occurs.

Basically I am out 400 bucks and Neosho has it and the engine.

If it was in the original packaging FROM JAPAN, then FedEx is BSing...If it made it from Japan, then it could make it in the US...

The company that shipped it to you needs to fight the claim with FedEx w/ respect to the damages.

You can take the comnpany that sold you the block to court if they refuse to make things right.

If the box shows as damaged, did you neighbor notice it.
Also, if it is the original box from Japan, (as another noted), FedEx should not have a leg to stand on if the matter comes to a fight.

Update:
FedEx refuses to pay at all costs and I don't blame them. Package did not have any kind of protection except for a top and bottom molded piece to hold it together. And the staples in the box where torn out.
The company will not pay says FedEx must pay.
This is a Civil problem so I am thinking the BBB and the WI attorney general. Then Court action with a report to the credit agencies. Also maybe a complaint to Ebay since they have a ebay store and that is how I found them.

FedEx says it can be repaired!

I'm guessing they're right about that. I'd find a way to fix it before going through all the trouble you're talking about.

FedEx asked me if it could be repaired and I said no.
The piece that got broken off was part of the transmission guide pin and when the pin got hit it smashed the pin and drove it thru the block The resulting hole is beleved on the other side so I don't think that can be fixed. Besides the cracks
Besides I don't think there is any place in po dunk Spokane WA that can weld cast iron and the block is in Milwaukee WI now.
