Don't ask me WHY, but for some reason I've got some HUNTING show going on T.V. right now, and there are these two guy's shooting prairie DOG'S. WTF??

What's so sporting about THAT?

You think they eat them? Hell no!

Don't they have a right to live?

I'd like to see a hunting show where THEY are being hunted!! :(

But then I don't even step on bugs.

I figure everything has as much right to live as I do, and something?s maybe MORE right to live!!

Plus those little critters are just plain cute!

EDIT: Just so as NOT to offend any groups out there, I have changed the heading of my post. Now all HUNTERS and not just rednecks can have a go at me!! ;)

You shouldnt segrigate and group people in such a way. People can hunt whatever they want if they are going to eat it.

I agree to a point.

But these guy's were shooting them and leaving them to rot.

This I have a MAJOR problem with!!

As far as I'm concerned if they kill it, they HAVE to eat it!!

Anyone have any good recipes for prairie dog??

Does this apply to war as well?

Listen, if you are going to lump people in a group, at least be smart enough to spell "offense" correctly in your Title for God's sake.

Newflash Moron, not all Rednecks are hunters.

What are you a member of PETA? Should farmers eat everything they kill too? Ugh

i am not a hunter by any means, but i will not stand in the way of those who do.
now my understnading is that Prairie dogs can get out of hand in population. people might be asked to hunt them to keep the population down, but i am not sure. remember some Prairie dogs do carry the plague and i don't want millions of these things running around in my backyard.

Some people do eat prairie dog; muskrat too....

What is more sporting, shooting the vermin or poisoning?

Prairie dogs are quite a nuisance to ranchers. A large population can ruin pasture. They consume large amounts of grass and the holes are a problem too. In addition, they often carry bubonic plague and other dangerous diseases.

It is little different than trapping a mouse in your house. Do you eat them?

Sweet! I have hunted prarie dogs!!! :D It was fun.

Why? Do you eat beef? Well, prarie dogs are a problem for livestock raisers. They dig holes, cow steps in hole, cow breaks leg, cow dies. That's the reason I went hunting them...as for the show, I dunno...

I'm pretty sure this is the case; I think I remember hearing something about this. Besides, a full grown prairie dog is nothing to mess with; they're twice as dangerous as a pitbull. ;)

I guess I would have to put war into the same category as hunting to keep the population in check.
Hunter's are always talking about killing to keep the population of one species or another under control.

What is the ONE species on this planet that is the most out of control?

MAN

We spread like a virus, and have no concern for any other species other than our own (for the most part).

We encroach more and more into other creatures? habitat, driving them farther and farther into retreat.
Then freak out when we see them in OUR territory.

War and disease and famine are IMHO natures way of controlling OUR numbers.

But medical science just keeps getting better and better and our numbers just keep increasing.

Sooner or later, something HAS to give.

I guess it just tick's me off that we can't see this and feel we have so much more right's over this world than do the other creatures we share it with.

And YEAH I may be a poor speller, but I don't think I am the Moron here.

To be truthful, I did hunt some as a child. But I grew out of it.

And I guess feeling pain for all of nature's beings has always been one of my faults.

(I LOVE some of my faults)

BTW: I have nothing against some "redneck's" I served in the CORPS with quite a few of them...............

"offence" is the British version of "offense." There's nothing wrong with it.

I realize that prairie dogs are pests, and are hazardous to ranchers, so I understand that they sometimes need to get rid of them, BUT, I don't see making a show out of people having a good time killing them for the fun of it. When there's a big population of them, it's not like shooting them is an efficient way of getting rid of them.

Let me get get this correct you advocate war as a means of controlling the population?

But, you don't mind killing rodents as long as no one gets any fun out of it.
