OK, I partitioned my drive for a dualboot(C=4gb for win2k, d=4gb for winme, e = 77gb for storage), and I installed WinME on the D: drive, and everything went fine. Once I installed any type of drivers(only tried ATI Radeon & SB Live!), something messes up with the Primary and Secondary IDE Controllers. Whenever I go into Windows, it says that new hardware thing and that it needs to restart and if i want to restart or not. If I choose yes, it restarts, comes back into Windows, and the same thing happens again. If I choose no, it goes into Windows fine, but if I go to device manager, and I look under either Primary or Secondary IDE Controller(dual fifo), it says "This device cannot work properly until you restart your computer(Code 14.). This still shows up after I restarted numerous times. The Via Bus Master PCI IDE controller appears to be working fine. Because these controllers aren't working, the DVD and CD-RW also aren't working, here is the device status in properties:
This device is not working properly because a device it depends on Secondary IDE Controller(dual fifo), has been dynamically disabled.
What can I do?? Here are my system specs:
ABIT KT7A RAID
1.2ghz Thunderbird
256mb Mushkin Rev3 ram
SB Live! Platinum
ATI Radeon 64mb
dual IBM 75gxp Desktar 45gb in RAID 0.
Please respond with any help you may have.
thanks,
Sage
